FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are curious about EFT and what working together looks like, here are the questions I am asked most often. If yours is not here, I would love to answer it on a free call.

What is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), often known as "tapping", is a gentle and effective approach that helps calm the nervous system and reduce emotional stress.

EFT works with both the mind and body by gently tapping on acupressure points while focusing on what's going on for you. As you feel calmer and more balanced, it becomes easier to process emotions, gain new perspectives and respond to life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

How can EFT support me during perimenopause?

Perimenopause can bring both emotional and physical challenges. Hormonal changes can leave the nervous system on high alert, meaning anxiety, overwhelm and irritability often feel much closer to the surface.

EFT helps calm the nervous system and reduce emotional stress, creating space to process whatever you're experiencing with greater ease. Many women find they feel calmer and more balanced, making it easier to navigate the emotional ups and downs of this stage of life and feel more like themselves again.

EFT can also help you develop a more positive and empowered outlook on this stage of life.

EFT is a complementary approach that supports your emotional wellbeing. It works alongside, never instead of, your GP, HRT or other medical care. If you are under the care of a healthcare professional, please continue to follow their advice.

Do I have to be experiencing perimenopause to work with you?

Not at all.

Although I specialise in supporting women through perimenopause, I also work with men and children who are struggling with anxiety, stress, overwhelm or other emotional challenges, and women at different stages of life.

My background in both Psychology and Primary Education enables me to support clients of all ages with a warm, compassionate approach.

If you're unsure whether I'll be able to help, you're very welcome to book a free 15-minute introductory call. We can chat about what's going on for you and whether EFT feels like the right approach for you.

I've never tried EFT before. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Most of my clients are completely new to EFT.

There's nothing you need to prepare or know before your first session. I'll gently guide you through the process step by step, explaining everything as we go and answering any questions you have.

What happens during an EFT session?

We'll begin by talking about what's been going on for you and what you'd like support with. I'll gently guide you through the tapping process as we explore whatever feels most important for you, always working at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Our sessions provide a calm, safe and supportive space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Each session is tailored to your individual needs.

Many clients leave feeling calmer, lighter, clearer and more like themselves.

Do I have to talk about everything that's happened to me?

No. You're always in control of what you choose to share, and we only work with what feels comfortable for you.

One of the things many people appreciate about EFT is that it can often be effective without needing to talk through every detail of a difficult experience.

Our sessions provide a calm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, supported and never pressured to share more than feels right for you.

Is EFT supported by research?

Yes. A growing body of research suggests EFT can help reduce stress, anxiety and emotional distress while supporting regulation of the nervous system.

Studies have shown promising results across a wide range of emotional wellbeing concerns, though everyone's experience is different and research in this area is still developing.

I'm excited to share more about the growing body of research behind EFT in future blog posts.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person and depends on what you'd like support with.

Some people notice meaningful changes after just a few sessions, while others choose longer-term support, particularly if they've been carrying stress or emotional patterns for many years.

We'll review your progress together as we go, and you can decide what feels right for you. Whether you choose one session, several sessions or ongoing support, the decision is always yours.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. All sessions take place online via Zoom, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home, wherever you are in the UK.

You'll just need a quiet space, a device with a camera and a reliable internet connection.

Many clients find they feel more relaxed opening up in familiar surroundings, without the need to travel.

What qualifications do you have?

I'm an Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner and a Psychology graduate.

My approach is warm, compassionate and evidence-informed, creating a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood and supported.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes. What we talk about stays between us, and everything you share during our sessions is treated confidentially.

The only exceptions are rare situations where there is a legal or ethical responsibility to act, such as if there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of someone else.

Full details about confidentiality and how your information is handled can be found in my Privacy Policy, which is linked in the footer below.
